Congratulations to Mikaela Stadie, whom successfully defended her honors thesis, "A Sustainable Approach to Wastewater Treatment Using Microbial Fuel Cells with Peroxide Production." A veteran of the Swette Center, Mikaela has been working with Dr. Cesar Torres and Dr. Sudeep Popat for three years on the cathode and membrane designs for a hydrogen peroxide producing microbial fuel cell.
Congratulations to Rachel Yoho on her advancement to Ph.D. candidacy. Yesterday, Rachel successfully defended her proposal, "The Use of Advanced Electrochemical Methods to Characterize Electron Transport in Anode Respiring Bacteria and the Assessment of Scientific Conceptions in Alternative Energy Technologies."
The Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative (FURI) Symposium is a highlight every semester in the Torres Lab and the Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology. Our engineering undergraduate researchers present their work to their peers, faculty, friends and family. A few photo's from today's event.
Torres lab would like to welcome rotation student Steven Hart. Steven is a first year student in the Biological Design Ph.D. program, and will be working on bacterial and enzymatic hydrolysis of complex substrates.
